Years ago, I worked a technical issue for an Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) doctor who couldn’t view x-ray results on a CD. After fixing this issue, the doctor explained to me what he was doing with the x-rays. He said he had a patient with sinus problems and he ordered these scans to see if he needed to do exploratory surgery.
By looking at the x-rays, he was able to determine surgery was not necessary and that he could treat his patient with less invasive methods. He then thanked me for helping him come to that conclusion and told me his patient will be happy with the prognosis.
His acknowledgment of my role in the care delivery process was a real eye-opener. I realized that day that through my tech support, I created a better life for that doctor and his patient. This is why #IHeartHIT and my job @UnityBPO.
