Clinical Pharmacogenetics Implementation Consortium (CPIC): Resources to Support Use of Pharmacogenomics in the Electronic Health Record

  • Event date: October 9, 2018 11:00 am - 11:45 am
  • Location: Virtual
Efforts to support the successful adoption of pharmacogenetics into the electronic health record (EHR) with clinical decision support (CDS) requires specialized clinical knowledge. The Clinical Pharmacogenetics Implementation Consortium provides these knowledge resources. Through CPIC’s Informatics Working Group, EHR-agnostic implementation resources are systematically developed and incorporated into all CPIC guidelines. These resources organize essential clinical pharmacogenetic knowledge and illustrate best practices to facilitate the use of a patient’s available pharmacogenetic data at the point of care.
Describe the components of a CPIC guideline and how CPIC guidelines can be used by clinicians to make specific prescribing decisions for patient care. Describe CPIC resources that can be used to aid the clinical implementation of pharmacogenomics into the electronic health record with clinical decision support Identify key decision points and processes to integrate pharmacogenetic decision support into the EHR.
