The organization launched CORE to create a national all-payer solution that gives providers access to consistent insurance information before or at the time of service using the electronic system of their choice for any patient or health plan. The organization has brought together more than 100 industry stakeholders to collaborate on a set of uniform business rules, built upon HIPAA and other national standards, to achieve that goal. More than 30 healthcare organizations, covering approximately 65 million or one-third of U.S. commercially insured lives, are now CAQH CORE Rules-certified.

CAQH implemented UCD in 2002 to enable providers and other health professionals – now totaling nearly 600,000 – in all 50 states and the District of Columbia to enter required information for credentialing and other purposes into a single, uniform online application. CAQH estimates that UCD has eliminated more than 2.75 million legacy credentialing applications to date, reducing provider administrative costs by nearly $89 million per year.

CAQH is pleased to partner with HIMSS in supporting the use of technology to improve the quality of healthcare in the United States.

McAfee

At McAfee, we understand that the security needs of the healthcare industry are often more complex than the typical enterprise. Because of the dynamic nature of healthcare environments, there are system and compliance issues that most businesses do not have to be concerned with. Securing hospital information systems (HIS) and medical equipment to protect sensitive patient data and ensuring compliance is a challenge that McAfee makes easier with its approach to security risk management (SRM).  Unique in the industry, the McAfee approach to SRM simplifies the process of balancing security and governance needs at healthcare organizations with the cost of protection and compliance.  SRM is a discipline that helps healthcare organizations identify and prioritize critical IT assets, assess threats, determine acceptable levels of risk, proactively implement appropriate protection, and measure and enforce compliance. The results are reduced costs, exposure, and risk, plus enhanced business continuity. Specific to the healthcare industry, McAfee solutions help protect advanced medical systems, optimize regulatory compliance, and ensure patient privacy. Visit www.macafee.com.
